1. Set intentions before you leave
Write down or say out loud intentions you have about what kind of trip you want to have. This can take all of 5 minutes but will make for a way better trip. It’s like you are ordering up what kind of trip you want to have from the universe. You would never go into a restaurant and just have them bring you something. Same with your life and especially vacations. Order up the best trip yet.
Thank you for helping us to fly/drive/cruise safely, quickly, and comfortably arriving at our destination refreshed and with all of our luggage with us.
Thank you for safe and comfortable lodgings that suit our needs.
Thanks for helping our trip to flow easily from one activity to another finding just the right restaurant or information to happily keep us going.
Spend a minute after saying each one of these intentions out loud (which really makes the universe stand up and listen) visualizing the result of these coming true. Picture yourself getting off your flight saying to yourself, “Wow. That went very quickly and I got an aisle seat just like I wanted. I’m ready to go enjoy myself now.” Picture yourself happy with your choice of hotels or lodgings. Picture yourself enjoying amazing food that is in your price range. This is how you order up a great vacation from the universe.
3. Go with the flow
Let’s say that you made reservations for the 10am ferry ride (as we just did in Vancouver) and we showed up at 8:42am and they said we could go ahead and board the 9am ferry so we did. We went with the flow of the universe that was presented to us. This taking the 9am ferry helped us have an extra hour of time over in Victoria which was a huge bonus for us. Be open to change and go with the flow--you don’t know where it might lead. It might be the universe’s way of making your intentions come true.
4. Give thanks
Every morning and every evening, think about what you are thankful for that has happened on your trip so far. Give thanks during the day. This is the way you recognize what the universe has provided for you by way of your intentions and allows the flow of this process to continue and strengthen. It also keeps you in a great mood.
5. Let it go
When things don’t work out the way you had planned, just let it go and move forward. There is no time to waste on a vacation being mad or upset so just let it go. For example, when our son got sick on the final day of our vacation (which also happened to be my birthday), we took him to Urgent Care and just let go of what we had planned for that day (visiting Snoqualmie Falls and a big birthday lunch for me). But it all turned out OK in the end and our son felt much better after he got some medicine. We found out that we all really needed a day of rest and having done that, I think we had a better time at the Seattle Mariners game that night. It turned out that we could go to Snoqualmie Falls the next day before our flight left so it all worked out just fine.
Just remember to breathe and relax on your vacation as well. It’s about having fun no matter what! Please share any additional spiritual travel tips in the comments below.
